Diploma in Shiatsu Completion Year

In line with Government Health and Safety precautions in operation for the duration of the Covid-19 Virus, Ki Kai Shiatsu School’s premises at Liverpool Road Community Centre, Laycock Street N1 1LP are now closed until further notice.

If you have booked for the Ki Kai Diploma in Shiatsu Completion Year, the dates of this course will all run as planned, provided the present closure restrictions are lifted at least four weeks before the start of this course on 19th September 2020. Anyone who has already booked, if the course cannot begin on that date will be entitled to a full refund, or a place on the course on its re-scheduled dates, if necessary, once the present restrictions are lifted.

For students who have completed the second and / or third years of their Diploma course but who have yet to complete their second and third year Diploma studies, we now run a ‘Completion Year’ of ten weekends running from September 2020 to July 2021. The principle objective is to enable you to complete your three case studies, requisite number of treatments and other assignments with all the necessary peer, tutorial support and guidance that this requires, in a friendly and supportive learning atmosphere..

We encourage you to engage with the practise of Movement Shiatsu and to use this approach as well in one or more of your case studies. During this year of ten weekends, you will learn more about the Three Families model, which is comprised of the Six (Yin & Yang) Divisions of Classical Meridians, Organ/Function-based system aligned with Classical Chinese Medicine and Five Element / Phase Theory. Your learning will be informed by further exploration of the Six Forms of Touch and Inner Qigong as a way of honing your sensitivity and will enable clients to benefit more actively from treatments and exercises that you model with them, so that they can then incorporate this into their daily health and well-being programme.

We will also facilitate it if you wish to complete those parts of your assignments such as one of the case studies in which you may choose to use Masunaga’s Zen-based extended meridian system.

Ki Kai is affiliated to the Shiatsu Society UK and achieved full ratification in 2019. This means Ki Kai complies with the Shiatsu Society new learning outcomes-based core curriculum. Students now present a final portfolio that evidences how each learning outcome is achieved in which piece of work or assignment, or how, or when each learning outcome competency was demonstrated practically in class: you will be supported in how to achieve this, so that all necessary aspects of the curriculum are covered.
